The history of the church shows that all who follow closely in the footsteps of Christ experience difficult moments and encounter the cross.

Many people meet distressing circumstances for living in accordance with their faith. For some, adversity come through the family and relatives, workers have to put up with injustices of employers, women the intolerance of their husbands, others it is calumnies and discrimination from society.

St Peter reminds the faithful that the difficulties they encounter are not meaningless. 1 Pet 2: 18-25. They should contribute toward one’s personal purification. In the midst of suffering, each one of us can share in the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus who gives fruition to our daily cross. Since the time of St John the Baptist, countless souls have given their lives in fidelity to Christ. Have a good and blessed weekend.
