On 06/07/2020, I went to Capital Shoppers in Ntinda and parked my car Reg no: UAQ ***P at around 10:45 am.

When I finished my purchases, I came back and my CAR was gone.

On realizing my car was missing, I engaged the security personnel, they advised we go to the camera room to view. At 11:06am, the camera shows my car being driven away by an unknown Man

I then went to the Police Station Ntinda to report, they gave me a case reference number SD 16/06/07/020 S/MV, they asked me to give them a copy of the motor vehicle card.

By around 12:30pm, I gave them a copy and told me to wait until they get any news.

So later a friend of mine advised me to report at CPS information control room so they send an alert for the vehicle.

I did as told and was given a case reference SD REF 22/06/07/2020. And they also said they would get back to me.

I waited but since then I have never heard from them, they didn’t even tell me if it was being handled, they literally went silent. They didn’t help at all.

I went back to capital shoppers to get the video of the theft then the guy in the camera surveillance room gave me footage that has nothing to do with my car yet he was aware of the case.

By the way Capital shoppers Cameras have BLIND SPOTS which means, there might not be a record of you ever parking there in the first place.

And the quality of their footage is so poor you can’t make out anything.

They claimed they can’t afford to cover the whole parking area so YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN.

When I put it out in public that my car was stolen from Capital Shoppers, I was told by different people that their cars or cars of people they know where stolen from CAPITAL SHOPPERS too, it’s not new and it happens a lot.

So am appealing to Uganda Police to investigate these rampant car thefts at Capital Shoppers starting with mine I appreciate any assistance. Thank you
