The lived experience is the best teacher. In 1998, my brother returned from the City. He told us great stories of City life and one which challenged my understanding was a front door thatopened itself for him when he went in front of it.

With my limited exposure, I could not believe it. “You mean there is magic in Kampala City?” I asked him to which he simply replied, “technology, my bro. Technology.”

Two years I got the opportunity to visit the City and my request was “first take me to that door that opens itself for you by just going in front of it.” And he took me to the building with that magical door.

What a moment! Just the door recognizing your presence, and swinging open, and then closing behind you was a great experience for me.

Since then, whenever I look out for such magical moments in the new cities. In the kitchen. In the rooms. And on the streets. Cities have high sophistication that only the keen eye can see.

You can travel but remain unexposed to the true moments.

What spectacular things or technologies have challenged your thinking and uplifted you? Which city made the most impact on you?

I remain Mr. Strategy. Tell me your new city experience story below.
