Kampala: April 9th, 2020 – Uganda has registered yet another milestone against the #coronavirus pandemic following the recovery of three patients who had tested positive. Out of the total of 3,524 suspected cases tested, the registered cases currently stand at 53. Of these, three have been reported having fully recovered from the virus.

No death due to coronavirus has been registered in Uganda.

A total number of 256 cases had been projected by the end of March 2020. It is April 10th, the number is still at 53. All the patients are said to be in stable condition. As I have always written, one of the challenges of the #covid19 is its ability to overwhelm the country’s health system due to many cases whereby there are not enough facilities to cater for them.

The timely interventions by the President through social distancing measures, specifically stay at home orders, curfew hours and restrictions on movements among others were timely.

We know the pandemic shall ultimately come to an end. Until then, you must follow government directives and expert advice. Stay at home. Stay safe. And if you must move out of your home, be very careful. Keep social distance.

I wish you Happy Easter Holidays.
